An economy in crisis

As our nation struggles through the worst recession since the Great Depression, in Washington, we are leading the way forward to economic recovery. Over the last two years, I have voted for legislation that will create or preserve over 100,000 jobs across the state. We have extended unemployment benefits for those families that are suffering, and we have invested in education and retraining to help displaced workers learn new skills and get back to work.

Keeping my promises

When I asked for your vote in the last election, I promised that I would not support tax increases that would hurt our middle class families. I kept my word. I have voted against tax and fee increases that were unneccessary and I have voted to provide tax cuts to small businesses and working families.

Focusing on the future

We cannot allow our present challenges to deter us from building a better future for our state. That is why I have supported a strong education system from preschool to college for every person in our state. I have been a leader on fighting traffic and congestion, and investing in our community's infrastructure. And, I have fought to ensure that our economy is stronger and more sustainable as we begin the hard work of recovery.

It is truly an honor and privilege to represent you in the State Legislature. I am committed to working hard on the issues that matter to our community and being your voice in Olympia.
